![]() ![]() This is another stellar cataloguing app that helps you compile an easily searchable list of books you own, It connects with Goodreads so you can check out reviews of titles you haven’t read yet or see how your opinions on books differ from that of your friends. Note-taking and journaling features let you annotate your reading experience in myriad fun, interactive ways. While primarily an ereader, it allows you to organize both physical books and ebooks on shelves. Gerty is for readers who really miss taking literature classes in college. It’s free and has a 4.4 rating on the Google Play store. It allows users to input titles manually or search by IBSN or barcode and sort using a variety of metrics including author name. This app takes more of a bare-bones approach. If you’re generous enough to let any of your books out of sight, that is.Īvailable for iOS and Android. There’s even a feature that tracks titles you’ve lent out to friends. Part social media platform, part library-style catalog, the app sources book info from more than 4,967 libraries worldwide (plus Amazon). Library Thing is similar to Goodreads, but with a stronger focus on the cataloging aspect. Think of it as your cheat sheet for when you can’t remember what books you wanted to read while you’re browsing at Barnes and Noble. The new Dock etc in iOS 11 was the main thing I was keen for anyway. While not a cataloguing app in the traditional sense, Reco lets you keep track of recommendations from friends, and dole them out too. Knowing I could always revert to a backup. Maybe the problem doesn’t exist on the 2017 iPad Pro with its up-to 120Hz display. Documents 5 and iBooks work fine though with all betas I think. Some debug code perhaps slowing something down. It’s very strange, I think it’s to do with screen refresh timing or something. I’ve had this problem with almost every beta right until the one before the official release of that version of iOS. Specifically, selecting/highlighting some text results in text being selected/highlighted about 3 lines up! So it becomes a bit of a guessing game, sometimes setting the text size to huge in an attempt to highlight something at the end of a chapter. I have been installing betas of iOS on my iPad Pro 9.7 and iPhone the last couple of years* but have decided to stop because of serious issues they can cause with JW Library on iPad. JW Library is working just fine on iOS 11.3 IOS 11.4 beta 1 has just been released but I won’t be trying it. Sent from my TECNO DP7CPRO using Tapatalk Now, no brother in my congregation has that problem. I thought it was a coincident, until I did it for two brothers. When the brother suggested it, it was funny and unlikely, but I tried it anyway, after all I tried all I could, even called branch, yet the problem persisted. And the workbook and watchtower brought up the current issue. It took a while before the what's new section updated. (Or keep going back to publication>workbook etc.Ĭheck the home page again. (If possible download a workbook there and just flip thru)ĥ. ![]() Open watchtower, or meeting workbook of 2016. After the update is done, go to publicationsĤ. Slide the jwlib home page downwards to update internally.ģ. I posted the issue here, and one brother suggested a funny method of solving it, but it worked for me and for other brothers that handed me there phones in our hall. Mine and that of other brothers had the same issue. Finally, uninstalled and reinstalled the app.Īll these actions didn't solve the problem. Freed up storage space to have more storage.ĥ. Many brothers and sisters have been giving me their android phones telling me that their JW Library doesn't update to the latest publications and literature. I am really sorry for the disappointment that many will go through when the app starts misbehaving and they can't really afford a newer device. They were happy and content how jehovah's organisation provides an all-in-one solution to be used at meetings, in service, for personal study etc.īut hardly anyone though that in order to continue to benefit from that provision, will need to significantly empty his pocket every few years. My point of this post being : many brothers and sisters bought phones / tablet in order to use JW Library, many at a great financial sacrifice. that you want men to do to you, you also must do to them. For publication downloads, please visit jw.org. And our brothers at the computer department can't really go against the flow. This is a research tool for publications in various languages produced by Jehovahs Witnesses. The brothers do understand that they should make all the software backward compatible, in order not to put the friends in unnecessary expenses.īut the thing with technology is that what is popular today, is already 'ancient' next year. We're slowly but surely reaching the point where old devices ( by old i mean older than 2 - 3 years) won't cooperate with the JW apps, mostly android devices. ![]()
